The Institute of Competitiveness and Innovations was established as an organizational unit at the University of Žilina in February 2004.

Its creation was initiated by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Žilina.

OBJECTIVES

  • supporting the development of the University of Žilina through the implementation of technological, product, and process innovations,
  • research and development in the field of High-Tech,
  • transfer of the latest technologies, knowledge, and innovations into industry,
  • research and analysis of factors influencing the competitiveness of Slovak industry,
  • design of methods, strategies, procedures, and technologies to improve competitiveness.

 

MAIN ACTIVITIES

  • product, process, technological, and system innovations,
  • integration of new manufacturing methods, increasing productivity and competitiveness through modern approaches,
  • transfer of research results into practice,
  • management of European, national, and regional projects focused on innovation,
  • education and support of talented students and young researchers,
  • lifelong learning related to the activities of the Institute of Competitiveness and Innovations (ÚKaI).
  • accredited performance testing of bearings and axle gearboxes
  • digitization of objects using laser 3D scanning technology and reverse engineering
